Salou

So here we are...in a world of spanish permatans...rather rotund germans and a few dutch. We have had a lovely time. It's hot and you have to work around that - going no where near the tent midday!

The kids have loved the pools and Amie and I hired bikes so we have had some lovely cycles down the coast to Cambrils. Ants are still a pain in the butt and the dust is mad - all over everything.

The kids love the show at night  - the camp mascot is Guli, now named the 'lemon on legs'.  We are still not quite sure what that's all about! Some poor bloke in a yellow costume. We now have an international football team in our 'street' three dutch kids, two spanish, two english and two little frenchies who sit in tiny chairs cheering!

up and off to Barcelona tomorrow - not sure what to expect - we are in a hostel but have a room. Am seriously looking forward to a bed - and ....no dust !! am a little nervous where the car goes though..the roof box means it's hard to sort...am having images of me driving round to 2am..

28th July Leaving the Pyrenees

The last night was fantastic. A picnic by the River watching the annual rafting races. The whole community was out - many in fancy dress.  They were competing on the kayak course on rafts. It was hilarious and quite competitive.  There was a band and an enormous paella on the go.  Anna was there with her family.  She's not competing this year, she announced today that she is expecting a baby boy!

We checked out the next day.  Eva has been brilliant she froze ice packs for us and she let me buy a bottle of wine for the mechanic who helped us so much.  Lots of photos and we were on our way..no before the first english family we had met donated a ball to alex!

A nice easy and relaxed trip to Taragona, just south of Barcelona.  I took it very slow down the moutains - stopping a lot to let agitated spanish shoot past!

We eventually found the campsite in Salou - it is unbelievable ..I booked because it had great pools.  It's a very posh butlins... five pools, team sports, kids shows and you hire a fridge !!!

Didn't even try putting up the tent - just went swimming!
